Environment
OS: Windows 11
App: Discord | Ver. 1.0.9032 | Discord Inc.
Issue: Discord Opens to a Black Screen
- When opening Discord, only a black screen appears, and no operations can be performed.
- Restarting the app, rebooting the PC, and reinstalling the app do not resolve the issue.
This problem was somewhat perplexing, so here is a summary of the solution..

Solution
The steps to resolve the issue are as follows:
- Uninstall the Discord app.
- Delete the ‘discord’ folder in the AppData Roaming directory.
- Reinstall the Discord app.
Let’s go through each step.
Uninstall the Discord App
Open “Programs and Features” in Windows and uninstall the Discord app.
※Apologies for the figures being in Japanese.

Delete the ‘discord’ Folder in the AppData Roaming Directory
Simply uninstalling the Discord app does not remove the ‘discord’ folder in the AppData directory. If you reinstall the app at this stage, the black screen issue may persist due to residual files in the Roaming folder. Therefore, manually delete this folder before reinstalling.
The location is:
C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\discord

3. Reinstall the Discord App
Finally, download the Discord installer (DiscordSetup.exe) from the official website and execute it.

Summary
The above steps outline the solution for the issue where opening Discord on Windows 11 results in a black screen that cannot be bypassed.
